Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a coach?

Working with a coach focuses your efforts so you finally achieve some of the major goals that have seemed impossible to achieve or complete in the past.

Is coaching the same as consulting or counseling?

No, consulting is advice giving in nature. Coaching is more multi-dimensional. Coaching can advise if it is in the expertise of the coach, but primarily a coach helps provide you, the client, with tools and techniques to obtain your goals and guidance to help you solve your own challenges. I firmly believe that the client holds their own answers. It is the coach’s job to help you uncover and act on that knowledge. However, I will give any intuitive impressions or inklings I feel during our work together, with the client’s permission.

Coaching is also not therapy. Some of my clients are receiving counseling by licensed therapists and are also working with me, as their coach, to move forward in all areas of their life.   In coaching, I share with my clients what they need from me, i.e. structure, validation, advice, strategy, feedback, awareness, options, tools and techniques, etc.

How long does the coaching relationship last?

Many coaches ask for a three to six month contract. I do not require you

to commit to a contract. However, I strongly suggest allowing a coach to work with you for at least three months. Your sessions can be weekly, bi-weekly or once a month. It depends on how fast you want to get your life to work for you. You will make that decision.
